Accordion Folded Flag Book at Auburn Hills Library, Tues., October 6 at 6:30 pm

Hello Crafters,
If you missed the 1st class of making accordion books, you can still attend Part 2, tomorrow night, Oct. 6 at 6:30 pm.

Plan to join us tomorrow night at the Auburn Hills Library for part 2 where we will be making Flag Books. These are FUN to make! You can attach photos, mementos, stamps, stickers, dried flowers or quotes & give as gifts to a special someone! Once you learn how easy they are to make, you can make them in any size you choose.

Please bring your general crafting supplies: bone folder, pencil, scissors, ruler, paper trimmer & preferred glue stick. Please bring a couple sheets of decorative papers for your covers. This can be wrapping paper or 12 X 12 scrapbook paper (text weight).  The book boards will be supplied for the covers.  I also have extra paper trimmers.  I will be showing you how to use a scoring board, which makes the folding & scoring so much easier! A very handy tool!

I've attached photos of the Flag Books I've made.
Will I see you tomorrow night? There's plenty of room for other attendees if you know of a friend who would like to attend. Please let me know if you DO want to attend, so I will know how many supplies I need to make available. There is no fee for the class.

Accordion folded book making at Auburn Hills Library--Tues., September 29

One of my favorite things to do is making books.  Join us for an artful evening and create an accordion folded book, also known as a "concertina". This is a 2-part series. We will continue the following Tuesday with another advanced accordion book or you may choose to make another simple accordion book. You may register on-line at the Library website (http://auburn-hills.lib.mi.us/) or call the Auburn Hills Library directly (248-370-9466) and press "3" for adult services.  There is no charge for the class.  It is helpful to bring along your paper crafting tools (tote) such as a paper trimmer, bone folder, ruler, glue stick and decorative paper for the covers. You may use this as a gift greeting card in a book or commemorate a special day or event. Books are fun to make and give!

Make Amazing Guest Designer for Fun Stampers Journey

I was invited to be a Make Amazing Guest Designer this month for Fun Stampers Journey. These are the cards I created using their April Kit of the month called "Hello Sunshine." I created 3 cards using the supplies that came with the kit.  For the background on the 1st card, I stamped the umbrella multiple times on the pink cardstock using a pink blush inkpad, mounted it on white for a border, then mounted it on the green cardstock. I stamped "Hello Sunshine" on pink cardstock then punched out with oval punch. I colored in the little girl with markers and cut out.

For the 2nd card, I stamped the cloud in gray several times for the background on the green cardstock. Then mounted it on pink cardstock. I sponged the edge of the die-cut white cloud with blue ink & mounted it with foam tape on top of a blue cloud which I cut out 1/4" larger than the original stamp. The umbrellas were stamped with cantaloupe ink & I added the sequins (with kit) to the clouds. I punched out a small yellow flower to look like the sun peeking out behind the clouds.

For the 3rd card, I stamped the cloud 3 times with grey ink on 140 lb watercolor paper, painted it with blue watercolor paint, then cut out & mounted it on the blue cardstock using foam tape. I used a blue colored pencil, coloring lightly around the edges to give it more definition & shading. I stamped the blue background with the raindrops stamp in grey ink.  I cut out a circle freehand using the dotted yellow paper & added rays (also cut freehand) then mounted it behind the cloud so the sun is peeking out. I stamped the umbrella in red & cut out, then mounted with foam tape also. This card was my favorite. Hope you enjoyed seeing these and maybe give you some inspiration!

Kinda Eclectic collage

One of Stampin' Up's sets I love creating with . . . making this one more 2 -D by punching butterflies & cutting out leaves. Butterflies were punched out of cardstock sponged in turquoise & white acrylic. The sun was a happy accident, since the color did not stamp fully, I colored in the orange with prisma pencil. Aha! . . . a better looking sun.
